The Vampire Facial or the Vampire Facelift

When you first hear of a vampire facial or blood facial, you may think Count Dracula will be by your side. Fortunately, that will not be the case. A popular skincare treatment used by such celebrities as Kim Kardashian West, the vampire facial is actually a facelift procedure that uses a combination of microneedling and your own blood to stimulate skin cell growth, resulting in younger-looking skin.

What is the Procedure Like?

Using your own blood that is drawn prior to the facial, it is then put through a centrifuge to isolate the platelets, creating platelet-rich plasma (PRP) that will eventually be spread across your face. While this may sound strange, there is nothing to worry about. Once the plasma is ready, your doctor will begin the PRP facelift by using various types of needling and microneedling to help the PRP penetrate deep into your skin, leading to enhanced cell growth and hydration. Taking less than one hour, this blood facial treatment is a regular part of more and more women’s skin care routines.

What are the Benefits?

Along with it being a quick and relatively painless procedure, the vampire skin treatment offers other benefits as well. These include a toned and fresher appearance of your skin, elimination of premature wrinkles and sun damage, healthier and fully-hydrated skin, and the added bonus of not having to go under the knife to start looking years younger.

Am I a Good Candidate for this Procedure?

While almost anybody who has problems with skin that is sun-damaged or has premature wrinkles is a good candidate for a vampire face mask, there are some exceptions. The most common of these is if you have had a history of blood diseases, particularly ones involving bleeding or clotting issues. In these instances, you are generally advised against seeking a PRP treatment.

What are the Risks?

If you are looking for a facial treatment that offers very few risks, the vampire facelift is for you. With most patients, there will be slight discomfort during the blood draw. Along with this, there will be slight bruising from the microneedling which will leave your skin a bit red, feeling and looking like you have a slight sunburn. However, with most people, a recovery time of no more than a day or two is all that is needed.

How Much Does it Cost?

While costs can vary, most people getting the vampire skin treatment can expect to pay between $650 and $850. To get optimal results, we recommend at least three treatments over 6 months. However, more is not necessarily better and treatments should be done no more frequently than once every two months.
