Exploring the CoolSculpting® Procedure

What is CoolSculpting®?

Put simply, this is a non-invasive procedure of removing fat cells under the skin.

Currently, plastic surgeons and dermatologists use Coolsculpting® to reduce excess fat cells under the skin that is difficult to remove even with daily exercise and a healthy diet. The United States Food and Drug Administration has officially accepted this new procedure as a safe and practical way of removing stubborn fat cells under the skin without undergoing surgery.

However, Coolsculpting® is a nonsurgical body contouring technique used by plastic surgeons, and dermatologists to freeze fat cells under the skin. This current technique doesn’t involve invasive methods like liposuction, which is a surgical way of sucking out fat from under the skin.

CoolSculpting® is only a nonsurgical sculpting treatment that targets fat cells and destroys them without even performing surgery.  The dermatologist will either freeze the fat cells using cold temperatures or employ the use of ultrasound or radiofrequency to eliminate them through hot temperatures.

Removal of Stubborn Fats

We all have fat in different parts of our bodies, but if you are a type that doesn’t monitor the things you eat and drink, there are high chances of increasing fat tissues in your body. For example, eating too many junk foods such as sweet desserts and burgers can increase your level of cholesterol. During this period, you will start experiencing changes in your weight and noticing lumps of fat under your skin.

If it is the case where you notice minor fat deposits in regions such as:

  • Under your armpit
  • Abdomen
  • Thighs
  • Flanks
  • Under the chin or upper neck
  • Back
  • Buttocks and under the buttocks

Then you might want to consult one of your medical skincare doctors about using CoolSculpting® for a safe and effective way of removing fat.

According to some studies, CoolSculpting® or also scientifically called ‘Cryolipolysis’ helps to lower small amounts of fat by 20 to 25% percent. It does not cure obesity, neither is it a weight loss treatment. It only freezes the fat cells to contour the body.

Who is This Procedure For?

This particular treatment is not for patients suffering from weight loss, obesity, cryoglobulinemia, cold agglutinin disease, or paroxysmal cold hemoglobinuria. It works best for individuals with healthy diets and an active lifestyle.

If you are in the modeling industry or still see traces of stubborn fats after having seriously committed to your workout routines and maintaining a healthy diet, then you may want to consider this procedure.

Things to Consider

It is preferable to consult your medical doctor or an experienced dermatologist before using CoolSculpting® for your fat removal. He or she can help to decide whether the treatment would be perfect for your situation, or there are other better means.

You can ask your doctor if your medical conditions, including recent surgeries, allergies or sensitivities, and the pre-existing hernia can hinder the process from running successfully.

When you are undergoing the treatment, you will experience sensations of pulling, aching, mild pinching, tingling, tugging, cramping stinging, cold intense, and many others that may make you feel uncomfortable. However, these sensations will eventually go as soon as the treated area becomes numb.

There are also side effects that you will encounter after the procedure, and they include temporary redness, swelling, blanching, bruising firmness, tingling, stinging tenderness, skin sensitivity, and muscle cramping.
